Name: Demontario Anderson
School: Texas Southern University
Position: EDGE/OLB
Height: 6-2
Weight: 245
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
To leave my program in a better place it was before. As a senior, I got a chance to lead a new era for Texas Southern. Most wins the university has had in over 10+ years and one game away from Swac Championship. 2nd goal was to realize the new competition in the conference and compete with the best still. In the regular season, I finished tied in top 6 in sacksin conference, lead my team in sacks, lead my team in pressures, 2nd on my team in TFLS and 3rd in total tackles.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I led by example. I was selected as Team Captain, Senior Captain, and one of the Defensive Captains. I was also selected to be a head representative/spokesman in several big events to show the how young men are being developed at my University.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
Tendencies. They are high giveaways on how the players in front of you like to give themselves an advantage. Good to be 2 steps ahead. Opponents playbooks are often what they do just like to scheme it in multiple ways. Recognizing multiple blocking schemes and alignment rather who’s on and off the line can give myself a possible understanding of what few plays that can be ran out of the formation.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
IQ, easily coachable, and versatility. I get countless hours throughout the week to see the best way to contribute my 1/11. I’ve listened and adapted into 4 different schemes and was productive in all of them. Coach tell me where I fit and I adapt.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Learn the game more, develop my body and become a professional at my craft. I believe I have the perfect strength/conditioning and skill coaches that understand where I need to be when it’s time to showcase what I bring to the table.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Toughest worker you will find. On and off the field I do whatever it takes to be the best at whatever role I’m placed to have on a team. My dedication is unmatched and my work ethic is top tier. My actions speak louder than words. I graduated with my bachelors in Pre-Med, was a great team captain, and put on one of the better displays of talent in my conference. I can handle anything on my plate.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I don’t make excuses for work. I show up and show out. As simple as it gets.
