Q: In your final collegiate season, what goals did you accomplish this fall or set for this upcoming spring?
This fall my goal was to prove to professional teams that I make plays both as a defensive back and special teams player, no matter what level or who I play against. I feel I accomplished that and my goal this spring is to prove myself once again at the College Gridiron Showcase and at UVA’s Pro Day.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I believe the coaching staffs and players I’ve been grateful to share the field with would say I’m a team first leader, intense competitor, smart and accountable. I’m the workhorse that will do anything to help the team win.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I focus on disguising my coverage as a safety and my technique in man coverage. That was an issue leading into this past season, I watched enough film to know most of the plays before the snap and would get a little antsy pulling me out of position at times. My film shows that I can definitely play deep safety and show range so man coverage is the next area of focus just to become a better well-rounded defensive back.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
My versatility on special teams, learning curve, and ability to impact the game in various ways. I’ve blocked a punt, 4 field goals, and returned 5 kicks for touchdowns in my college career. I don’t know too many guys, if any, that can say that. I’ve had 3 different DC’s and made plays in each system.
Q: What is your plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities, especially with the virus limiting pro days/training facilities/etc?
I will be training at Grossetti Performace in PA, we will be working in small groups and following all necessary protocols to keep everyone safe. If the virus alters the schedule then my representative team and I have already discussed alternatives to still get what we need done.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I will build up any locker room and provide natural leadership that produces a winning mindset and standard in the organization. I have zero off the field issues and show up to make everyone better, myself included, everyday. On the field, for every play I make on defense I make twice as more on special teams.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL/CFL or any other professional leagues?
Football is football no matter where you from. It’s not where you play it, it’s how you play it and I believe I have shown that I know how to play football. I’ve improved a part of my game every year and I’m far from peaking out. I can learn any system and strengthen any locker room. I am the talented workhorse that knows how to win.
