Coomi Jackson is known as “Jackpot” by his peers and coaches because of his finesse like style of play and the fact that he seems to make a big play whenever needed. Standing at 5’10” and 165 pounds, Jackson is looking to make a big splash in his Junior year at his new school, Irving MacArthur High School in Irving, TX. Last year, Jackson played his Sophomore season at Kimball High School in Dallas, TX where he earned the starting role and recorded 9 pass breakups, 20+ tackles, 1 blocked field goal, and 2 fumble recoveries.
Jackson likes to pride himself on being a film junkie. “I like to take time out my day to watch film and analyze every small detail on every play. That’s not just my games or high school football, but football period, and at its highest peak,” said Jackson. After studying film, he translates everything to the field, where he uses his physical finesse to excel as a lock down Cornerback. “I’m a ball hawk and I use my athleticism to an advantage, from my quick twitch, to my jumping ability, and not to overshadow my speed that I have been consistently working on with my trainer/brother, Kameel Jackson,” he said.
Going into his Junior season ranked as the #31 Cornerback in the state of Texas by Lone Star Prospects, he has a few goals he wants to accomplish. These consist of keeping his GPA above a 3.4, having a better understanding of the game, getting stronger and faster, and starting to receive offers from colleges. He also wants to record at least 4 pick sixes, 20+ tackles, 12 pass breakups, 2 forced fumbles, and 2 blocked field goals.
Ultimately, Jackson believes that his game will take him to the next level. “I have a chip on my shoulder for one and I think that my will to compete will make a huge impression in that,” he said. Keep a look out for Jackson as he prepares to hit the Jackpot this season.
