Clayton Thrasher: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Clayton Thrasher
School: Peru State College
Position: LB
Height: 6-0
Weight: 215

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I had 2 goals for my senior year. One was to make a defensive player of the year of the Heart of America Conference. My teammate and good friend, Devin Adams, received this award. I love that my teammate received it if it had to be anyone besides myself. My second goal was pretty arbitrary, I just wanted to play with great enthusiasm and effort to pull my team along. Since we were in a transitional phase this season still making a name for ourselves with a new coaching staff as well.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates love to be a part of my team because of the extreme effort I bring and my selflessness when needed. I put all of myself into every play in every game. I play at an intense level and encourage my team to as well.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I study film a lot during the season. I self-scout immediately after every game. I cannot sleep until I see it and can address whatever errors were made in the game. I have been this way since my freshman year in high school. Initially, I look at my footwork and any potential pre-snap cues, then eye discipline and hand work. I am a good tackler, so I pay the most attention leading up to the actual play.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

The first thing I would say sets me apart is my coachability. I put my all into learning and studying new schemes, looks, and plays. The second thing, and probably the strongest aspect that sets me apart from others in my position, is how I play the game. I play at a higher level of intensity I am working twice as hard as everyone else to bring a different look to Mike linebacker.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I have continued to work out at the gym including fieldwork since graduating in December. I have also tuned in to my diet since being home. I am a kinesiology major, so training myself for the time being. I would love a pro day and then be able to work with a professional trainer and dietician.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My main strength is that I am smart. I love the game. I study the game nonstop. My ability to play at a higher intensity brings my teammates and team to that higher intensity level on the field. My intensity is infectious. Off the field, my strength would be mental aptitude as well. After my professional football career ends, I will continue my studies to become a chiropractor. As a chiropractor, I want to work with athletes to keep them physically and mentally healthy so they can play to their best ability.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

When it comes to life, most people will not take it to the level necessary. For me, I take it further than anyone else. I will run into a brick wall until it quits, so put me against another man and see.
