Name: CJ Davidson
School: Lawrence Tech University
Position: RB
Height: 5-10
Weight: 190
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Two goals I set early on were: 1. To break the all-time rushing record at LTU after I just two years at the position and, 2. To gain all-conference honors the second year in a row. I accomplished both goals in only my second season at the Running back position. For my first two college seasons, I played at the corner position, then switched to RB for the 2022 season. The work I put in for the switch was an amazing grind physically and mentally, and I thank God he gave me the ability to do it.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I think my coaches and my teammates would say that I’m a player who looks out for their teammates, brings a lot of grit to the game and leaves it all on the field. A player that will not give up and makes strong efforts to make sure everyone around the same has the same attitude.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying film on other teams, I always watch tendencies going from the D-Line, to Linebackers, to DB’s. I watch how quick the D-line gets off, the motor and quickness of LB’s, and the toughness and discipline of DB’s. When studying my own film, I always look at my vision, seeing if I missed any other holes or cutback lanes. I also watch for my own tendencies, seeing if anything is readable or if I can make any changes that can further my game, you never stop learning new things in this game.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me is my competitiveness, my high motor, and drive to succeed with others around me. I’ve been competitive all my life, beginning when I was 6 yrs old with youth wrestling. You can put me in any competitive situation with whoever and I will try my hardest to succeed. My love for competition heavily aids my high motor, I won’t stop or let up until I accomplish what needs to be accomplished, I strive for my teammates to also have those qualities. Football is a team sport and we all count on each other to perform at 110% to accomplish our shared goal, if you’re not locked in with your teammates, there’s a chance they won’t perform for each other as well as they should.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
During the offseason, I work with one of the best coaches in the business in Coach Chris Huff at P80 Fitness. That’s where I do all my speed training, strength training, footwork drills, etc. I train hard every day, doing exercises that translate to the field so there’s not a time that I won’t be ready.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Leadership is one of my greatest strengths on and off the field. I’m a natural leader who likes to lead by example. Another strength that goes on and off the field is my determination. If I start something, I have to finish it to the best of my ability every time. Last of many would be my speed. I’m very fast on the field.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
There will be no regrets in selecting me. I can bring leadership, hark work, speed, and drive to any team that picks me up, my attitude on and off the field would be a good addition. I’m ready!
