Chrys Lane: 2022 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Chrys Lane
School: Shepherd University
Position: LB
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 230

What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

My first goal was to win a championship. I mean I kind of reached this goal but it’s not the championship I wanted but we did win the super region championship, which was very special. My second goal was to be consistent at everything that I do. I feel like I reached this goal because I led the men and helped them become better players .What Chrys Lane brings to football is illustrated on the field. I reached 300 plus career tackles. My third goal was to get a degree. I accomplished this with no problem and graduated a semester earlier than I thought I would. My last goal was to get more exposure. This goal I’m still trying to reach. I got an FCS bowl invite but could not attend because we were still in the playoffs.

Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?

I think overall I just became a smarter football player knowing more systems and offensive schemes and how to attack them and just knowing what my team needs to help us achieve the goals we have set.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coach would say I’m a leader and ultimately a game-changing player. My teammates would describe me as a leader and the person that set the tone.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When watching the film I try to get in the mind of the Offensive coordinator looking at personal groups on certain down distance tendencies in a certain formation, Backfield structure, and depth.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I watch a lot of film on players within my position. I don’t think anybody can bring the physicality or IQ that I have and that’s on any level and we could watch the film to see.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I’m talking to a lot of agents and trainers so that I can broadcast my abilities and illustrate that I’m ready and able. I just need the right team to call my family and a place to call my home while I train.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field – leadership, physicality, and Relentlessness with a mindset to dominate competitors with a fast with an explosive play style. Off the field, a God-fearing man, family-oriented, and just trying to build and uplift the community around me.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Everyone needs workers I guarantee you I will outwork your hardest work on and off the field the chip on my shoulder grows daily so satisfaction isn’t an option for I have the story of London Fletcher and the work ethic of Antonio brown with the abilities of Ray Lewis or Devin White I just never got the stage to showcase this on a major level.
