Carlos Thomas: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Carlos Thomas
School: Peru State College
Position: DB
Height: 5-9
Weight: 190

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I set out to be the best leader I could be to the younger guys whether that was being vocal or just leading with my actions on and off the field. I wanted to be the guy that I didn’t have when I was their age that stayed on them about perfecting their craft. I also had a personal goal of at least 50 tackles & 15+ combined ints & pbus. I fell short of my tackle goal totaling 48 tackles. I finished with 5 ints & 12 pbus.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My teammates and coaches would tell you every time I step on the field you will get 110% effort from me. They would tell you that I am a great leader on and off the field & that my work ethic is second to none.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film on myself I look to see how disciplined I am with my technique, how well did I “mirror the receiver”, and my reactions and transitions in and out of my break. When studying opponents film, Other then studying certain receivers tendencies and plays in certain splits or formations, I like to focus on their most called plays & their go to play calls in certain down and distances.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

The thing that separates me from other pro prospects is that I am position-less. The previous year I played nickel/slot corner, out wide at corner, and at high safety. I moved week to week based off of the strengths of the opponents offense.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I am currently training preparing for an opportunity to prove myself to any professional organization. I am back a home training with the people I have been training with since high school. They know me best and know what I need to improve on.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My effort. My effort is always the first thing that stands out and is never is question with my teammates and coaches. Also I have been carrying myself like a professional since high school. It was drilled in my head that if i wanted to be great at something I had to take everything serious whether that be lifting, eating, stretching, recovery, sleeping, or even how you act in activities outside of football.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

You are getting a high motor hungry individual whose defied all odds at every level he’s been at. Someone who brings a different type of competitiveness and swag that is contagious throughout the team. A dog that doesn’t back down from any challenge he’s faced with.
