What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I set goals to win conference as a team, get into the playoffs and win the national championship. I was chosen as the Preseason Defensive player of the year for our the northern sun intercollegiate conference.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
I took this extra year to become more advanced within the game mentally as well as physically. I took this year to train my body like at the professional level such gaining necessary muscle while keeping elite speed and change of direction. I learned to understand the game at a more complex level in terms of post and pre snap alignment, assignment and execution at a high level.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My teammates and coaches would agree that I am passionate about my love for football, very hard working in all aspects and a trust worthy player on and off the field . I am very coachable and consistently a big playmaker on the field!
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
During film study I will look for tendencies within the pass and run game, such as how frequent a team throws on a particular down, what formations teams like to run/throw more out of as well as route concepts based on WR alignments. Facing 11/12 personnel, I look for tendencies in the TE to differentiate their run/pass block as well as their release/tempo coming off the line.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I am a long, rangy side line to sideline safety that can disrupt both the pass and run game with a high ceiling for development. I am able to play corner as well, which negates being a mismatch for any receiver/slot/TE that lines up in front of me.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I will train at NFL certified facilities in the north/south suburbs of Chicago, continue to modify my diet as well as continue to learn the game at an NFL level watching film and learning both offensive and defensive schemes.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am a disciplined player that is dedicated and consistent in perfecting my athletic abilities. I have an Elite football IQ and play as a captain in the defense such as getting all my teammates around me in position to make plays.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I am a player that will come in and immediately make a positive impact on and off the field. I will compete, win and progress everyday at my craft.
