Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My first goal for the season was to finish the season out healthy. I knew that me being healthy and being able to play every game could be very beneficial for our team. To do this, I needed to stay in the training room and getting proper treatment for my body; which I did. With this being my final season, I just wanted to do as much as I could for the team. So, things like outside of being a starter, being on different defensive packages we have and playing special teams, was something I did. I also wanted to lead the team in tackles which I ended up being tied for first on the team.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say that I am a very smart and resilient player who leads by example. I believe my coaches and teammates would say I am a competitor who is very dependable.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I’m looking at film of teams, I always start with the offensive lineman and look for weaknesses and tendencies. I like to see who the best linemen are and the ones who we can attack more. This is a similar process for the rest of the offensive positions that I look into. This process normally takes a few days to really get a better feel as to how we can stop the offense we’re going against. One thing that’s I’ve noticed is that a lot of players tendencies don’t change so I normally pick up on a few of them within the few games I watch. This has allowed me to be able to play fast and be able to know when plays are going to happen before they do.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I think what separates me from other prospects is the speed that I bring to the game and being a sideline to sideline linebacker. With having the range to make plays all over the field it has been very beneficial for me which can be seen on my film. My work ethic can also separate me, because I have been underlooked a lot throughout my career so it has always pushed me to give out my best performance on the football field and with training.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My off-season plan is to prepare for any professional opportunities and to continue train with my trainers at ETC in Maryland. Within this process, I will continue to have meal prep which will allow me to eat and drink things that will fuel my body properly. And something else very important to me, is to stay at a consistent weight.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Some strengths and abilities of mine are my speed and quickness which help me diagnose a lot of plays and react swiftly. My ability to fight through adversity and not panic is something I have developed very well throughout my career.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
If you draft Brian Lee Jr you will be getting, first and foremost, a man of God who is ready to take on any role he’s given for the team. I pride myself in being the best version of myself and to make others around me better. You’re getting a guy who is a student of and loves the game of football and I will strive to uphold the standards of the team on and off the field and fulfill my role accordingly.
