Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
I accomplished all the goals I set for myself this season. I was awarded first team all-conference and led the team in interceptions. Additionally, I became more of a leader for my teammates and someone that the team could depend on both on and off the field.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
My coaches would say that I am a hard worker who brings positive energy day in and day out in practice and games. I’m also a person they could count on to make a play when needed, such as making game ending tackles or game winning interceptions.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When I watch film, I first focus on myself and try to pinpoint areas that have potential for improvement. I also like to study my opponent and pick up on some of the tendencies they have, such as how they move before catching a ball. I also focus on where receivers are lined up, so that I can determine different routes that they like to run. Additionally, I look to see if the team has certain formations that they prefer more than others, so that I can better prepare myself and anticipate the offense’s next move.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I believe what separates me from my competition is my football IQ and complex understanding of the game. This allows me to better analyze many game situations and what the opposing offense needs to achieve in certain moments of the game. For example, if it’s 3rd and 10, I know that the offense needs to get a first down, knowing this, combined with my complex study of the offense’s film prior to the game, I know that there are only few routes that they can run to try and accomplish their goal. Using my football IQ in game situations like this, help me better anticipate my opponents next move while also improving my strengths as a corner.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
This offseason, I plan to train back home in Georgia and work on my explosiveness and strength. I also plan to fine tune my defensive back techniques and learn new approaches that will help me excel when making the leap to the next level. My main focus right now is to prepare my body for the Dream Bowl in Virginia in January and my Pro Day in March.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I bring good energy and I’m always focused on my goal. As soon as I walk in the door, I show everyone that I truly care and will do whatever it takes to help my team become better. On the field, I am very versatile thus being able to adjust to and play different positions such as CB, safety, or nickel back allows me to better serve my team depending on its needs.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I want teams to know that whoever takes a chance on me, will get an athlete who will do whatever it takes to help the team on and off the field. They will also be gaining someone that will constantly work extremely hard to prove to them why they made the right decision in choosing me.
