Q: What were some of your goals heading into your final collegiate season?
During fall camp, I wrote down my goals and put them in my locker. Before each practice and game I would look at the paper. The goals were to lead the Nation in interceptions and have double digit passes deflected. I also wanted to win another Conference Championship.
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Fast, Physical, Instinctive.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I have been training every morning at The Lab909 in San Bernardino, CA focusing on testing for a combine I am participating in at The Dream Bowl and trying to perfect my craft as a Defensive Back, while getting solid lifts in every day. Also, I am focusing on my diet to keep my body in the best shape that it can be.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
First focus on the route combinations that the offense is running and I draw each combination up. Next, I focus on each of the Receivers play style and tendencies. Then, I focus on the Quarterback and his reads/presnap tells that I can pick out to determine the offense. Each player/team I am studying, I take notes and find their favorite plays or moves.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I believe that my want for the ball while it’s in the air, my close in speed, and my attitude/grind for the game separate me from other players. Any time the ball is in the air, I believe that it should be mine and I understand that the game is more mental than it is physical. The more you prepare the more you will be able to just react rather than think.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My strengths and abilities that I can bring to a team on the field are my big play abilities, competitive attitude, ability to be a leader, and my 110% effort I have on every play in any role I have on the team. My off the field strengths and abilities will be how I want to give back to the community and encourage the youth to never give up on their dreams, regardless of any hard trials they go through.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
If you take a chance on me, you can have someone with the big play ability and leadership that a defense needs in order to be successful and help achieve the team’s main goal.
