Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
A goal I had given myself before I started the season was to make All American. I exceeded my goals by receiving: Fred Mitchell Award, First Team All American, First Team All NCCAA, First Team AFCA All American, Aldrick Rosas Award, First Team All Conference Kicker, and Special Teams Player of the Year.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
The thing I am most proud of is that they say I have an extremely strong work ethic. I have always pushed myself on the field by putting in extra time between team practices and also I am committed to pushing myself in the weight room. Another thing they say is I am consistent and they could always count on me to make game deciding points. Many of my teammates and coaches would also say that I am calm and collected under pressure.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
One thing I always strive to focus on is what makes me most consistent. The way I do this is by breaking down film as much as I can frame by frame. I do this not just for myself, but doing this with the coaches I have been able to help break down how coverages develop and where I need to kick the ball in certain situations which help pin and make it difficult for teams to succeed on us on Special Teams. This helped both me and my coaching staff to hone in on small things that make my kicking as consistent as possible.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
One thing I think that sets me apart from other prospects in my position is that I will not be out worked. I am humble and know that to be at the top of my game I must keep pushing in all areas of life. I am committed to living a lifestyle on and off of the field that will push me above the others. I am committed to giving back to my community. I also want to be a source of inspiration and knowledge for other kickers and punters. I believe that we are a small, yet mighty group that needs to stay committed to comradery with one another.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
First, I have put a strong emphasis on my mental fortitude and my strong faith in Jesus Christ. Second, I am committed to being in the gym everyday working on my physical strength, but this also makes me stronger mentally. I find when I stay focused on my training my mental and physical health align to make me the strongest I can be. Third, I continue to eat a healthy diet that keeps my energy level up and helps with making me physically stronger. Finally, I look for ways to stay connected to my community. Staying connected and grounded helps me to remember that I am not alone in the pursuit of my dream to play professional ball.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
As I have mentioned earlier, I have a work ethic that is hard to match. I am willing to put in the time and effort to be the top of my game. I will make relationships with a team that will bring value and trust on and off the field. I am committed to becoming part of the community that accepts me as their own. I also think I bring a positive outlook on life that is refreshing and much needed in an industry where it is easy to see shortcomings over successes.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I know there are many men who have a dream of playing in the NFL, I myself have had this dream since I was a young boy. What sets me apart is through adversity I have maintained a positive outlook which has enabled me to overcome every obstacle put in front of me. While I have had setbacks, I have taken the opportunity to reframe the criticism and use it to propel me to a higher level of determination and success. If I am given the opportunity to play for the NFL or any other pro league I am committed to remaining coachable and being the best player and teammate, and man that I can be. This aspiration supersedes football, and my deepest desire is to bring honor to Jesus Christ, my family, friends and community that have rallied behind me for many years.
