Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My Main goal of my final collegiate season was to improve my leadership role and become a captain on the team & to focus on my skills so that I would eliminate one side of the field when I was out there. I was able to accomplish both of these goals during the season. I look to improve my skills even further going into the NFL and becoming the ultimate lockdown corner.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say that I’m the type of player to do anything and everything for the team. I am an all in type of guy and I give everything I have to an organization. My teammates had a nickname for me as they all would call me the ‘The Standard’ as a testament to my everyday life work ethic towards the game of football and beyond.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I study film to improve my game I look for the little things such as any wasted movement or ill hand placement and look to see how that affected me vs how it could affect the WR & Quarterback timing. I mostly look for anything and every little detail to improve my game to become the ultimate technician.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me from other pro prospects at the CB position is my mind. My mental capacity is something I pride myself on. The ability to learn multiple positions multiple defenses rather quickly and efficiently is a component of it. When I played at Iowa state I played all 3 safety positions and both corner positions so being able to line up anywhere on the field in that defense is a testament to the god given mental fortitude. Another component would be IQ for the game, which has grown and is still continuing to grow immensely. I have a love for the mental side of the game just as much as the physical side. I love being around people who so far in my career have mostly been coaches who love the game and break it down to the nitty gritty details. I am excited to be in a situation in the NFL where guys like that are common. It can only boost me and my level. I was able to clock a speed of 23.06 MPH on our gps units and my fastest in game speed is 22.69 MPH
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
My off-season plan to train and prepare is to go down to EXOS in Dallas and train for the combine and pro day.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
The Strengths that I bring to a team that will stand out is my mental capacity & instincts for what’s coming. My will and sheer work ethic is what I pride myself on in life period so that foundation carries over into everything I do whether that be on the field or off. I will be known as the best corner to ever play the game of football.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch is that if you are able to get me into your organization that will be the best decision the front office and the football staff could make. You are getting a player with a drive and the will to be great like no other. You are getting a player that is committed to the process. You are getting a player that processes information like no other. Most importantly you are getting a player that will represent your organization at the highest standard at all times, on and off the field, everyday.
