Cooper: I am training in Pensacola, Florida at EXOS. It has been at a great experience and I feel very prepared for the upcoming combine. I have been working with QB Coach David Morris and have really sharpened up some of my game.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Cooper: I think I am a lot like Andy Dalton, not just because we look alike, but we have similar traits. I try to study all the great ones around the league. I look at Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Ryan etc., in order to improve my game in all areas.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Cooper: When I look at film, I first study a team’s normal down and distance tendencies. For example, what their favorite fronts, blitzes, and coverages happen to be. I do the same thing for third down and redzone situations. Then, I look at personnel and where our best matchups would be.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Cooper: I am a very smart player. I played in a pro style system in all four years I started. This will help the transition to a NFL style offense. I am a student of the game and understand offensive and defensive concepts well. This helps me process things fast and make quick decisions in the pocket. Also, my toughness and ability to hang in the pocket to make the necessary throws.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Cooper: On the field I bring toughness, leadership, command, and play making ability to a team. Off the field I am reliable, determined, and accountable which are things every Quarterback needs to have.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Cooper: I am a very fast learner and I believe I will make a smooth transition to the next level mentally. My experience starting four years in a pro style offense is something that has prepared me well. I was a two-year captain and have leadership qualities that can help a team in many ways. I have the ability to hang in the pocket and make plays. I am a guy that will come to work everyday wanting to get better and help the team.
