Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goals For the season were to win the Conference and National Championship. While doing that I wanted to become All Conference For the second year in the row, and earn All-American. I knew with my skill set and knowledge of the game it could be done.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
They Would Say Im tough, I’m a dog on the field who knows the game and loves to compete at a high level. But all in all I never give up. I fight through the pain and keep pushing.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When studying myself I usually tend to look back at previous Film of games or practice to see what works and to see what I can improve on with hand placement and pad level, and making sure I’m taking the proper steps. Then spend that whole practice week trying to improve and apply it to our next game. As far as studying my opponent I tend to look for what type of moves they have coming off the line or if they just like to bull rush. Also seeing if they have good pad level so i know i’ll have to be sound in my technique so they can’t put hands in my chest or swim move or anything in that nature.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
Versatility Most definitely. I Can play and learn every position on the offensive side of the ball. This past year I played Tight End, H-Back, Lined up at receiver in slot and outside. Plus snaps at running back/ Wildcat. While doing that I was highly effective at each position. Scoring Touchdowns at each position. Also having that blocking skill set also separates me because I take pride in blocking for my Wrs, Rbs, and Qbs. And Film Shows.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I plan to cut weight and get Faster with my footwork and explosiveness. This will allow me to be more agile on the field. At 270 pounds I was a force to be reckoned with but I feel like if I was a little lighter I would be even more effective when it comes to speed off the ball or yards after catch. The plan overall is to keep improving my Flexibility, Explosiveness, Speed, Elusiveness, Footwork, pad level, hand placement etc.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Leadership For sure taking pride in leading the guys on the field , while also helping make right decisions off the field as well. In this time and age you see a lot of athletes in trouble off the field and sometimes they just need that one person to change their perspective on certain things. There are not enough leaders out there. They let the money sometimes ruin their career. But as far as on the field, being able to play any position helps a team a lot, especially if a man is down. I was always told the next Man up. So having that skill set to be productive anywhere on the field is always a plus for any team.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
Choosing me you are getting a COMMITTED Athlete. Willing to sacrifice whatever to simply win on and off the field. I hear this all the time, As an athlete you have to be coachable. I take pride in being coachable and learning from my mistakes. You’re getting a guy who wants to compete and earn his spot on a roster. I might not have gone to a D1 college but there’s a lot of fight in this Dawg and you’ll see it if given the opportunity. Just ready to learn and further my career.
