Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
Some goals that I set for myself included winning the PSAC title as well as becoming a better version of myself as a player in comparison to the years before. Although we came up short of our team goal with competing for the PSAC title, I was still able to produce one of the best seasons I’ve had in my college career.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say that I am extremely competitive and ambitious in my approach as a player. No matter what the situation is I would always try to create a competition out of it. Whether that will be in the weight room, sprints at the end of practice, or position drills I would always want to be first and help motivate my teammates in anyway I can. For the ambitious side, I have this fire in me that will not settle for being average. I will always do whatever it takes to become better at my craft.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I watch film one of the aspects I check for is the type of coverages the defense use most frequently depending on the down & distance. Once I have a grasp on this, another aspect I look for are the tendencies of the secondary. Just to see if they will have any “giveaways or indicators” on what coverage it might be on that particular down. The last aspect I look for is the playing style of the secondary. I ask myself “is this DB physical and plays press” or “is this DB more finesse and plays off” which then trickles down to who’s hips are more fluid than the others. I also look at their past opponents to see what types of WR releases were successful so that way I can come in with a gameplan of what would work.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I think what separates me from the other pro prospects is my speed, change of direction, and football IQ. Before lining up against a DB, I am confident that not a lot of DBs is able to match up with me stride for stride. When I come across someone that does that’s when my change of direction comes into play. Not a lot of people is able to start fast and stop on a dime to change direction to get into their route but I feel like I am able to. For football IQ, I feel like I am able to adjust my routes well enough to counter a certain coverage given and recognizing the “soft spots” in zones.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
The off-season plan to train and prepare is to become bigger, stronger, and faster. I am currently working out in Harrisburg PA with my personal trainer, Ryan Mackes, at the Lab Performance Fitness. He does a great job of preparing me to be in the best shape. This includes agility, speed, change of direction, positional drills, as well as strength work aspects.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I will bring a team first attitude and also someone who will create conversation with everyone. I always like to get to know my teammates because I feel like developing that bond on and off the field will strengthen the overall continuity of the team.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
My final pitch to the NFL and other pro leagues is that you will get someone who is determined to be great, a leader by example, and willing to do whatever it takes to benefit the team as a whole. Ever since a kid, I had dreams of playing professionally and I refuse to let anything block me in the way of this opportunity.
