What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
My goal was to lead my team to have a successful season, have a productive season personally and to leave a legacy that future players can look to as a model for how they should play the game.
Q: How do you think you took advantage of the extra year of eligibility to increase your chances of going pro?
I was able to use that extra year to work on my skill set and work to perfect my technique. Additionally, I was able to stay in the weight room and train my body to continue to play high-level football.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say that I play the game with a level of passion that succeeds anything they’ve seen prior. I truly love this game and I show that with everything I do, on the field, in the weight room and in the film room. I love being around the game and every opportunity I get to lace up my cleats and put on my pads is truly a blessing and I treat it as such. That passion opens itself up to other aspects of my game as well. I am leader on and off the field, am an intelligent player through meticulous work in the film room and a hard worker that is always working on my development to make myself the best I can be.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I’m very detailed oriented when it comes to watching film. I watch everything time and time again. When I study the opponent’s film, look for anything that can be used to my advantage. I look at the quarterback pre-snap and see his motions, to see if he tips off what play he’s running. I watch the offensive line, look to see where their eyes are, foot position, whether their hand is down, their off-hand position-whether it’s resting on their thigh pad or if its up and ready, how much forward lean they have and if they point anywhere; all that indicates the play. Additionally, I look at the running back position to see what play is being run as well as study to see if teams create tendencies due to his alignment. I am very precise when it comes to film study. I enjoy doing it and if all of that can help me make one more play to help my team, then it’s all worth it.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
What separates me from other players is my unmatchable work ethic, my detail-oriented style of preparation and play, and my deep desire for the game. I am always the first one in and last one out and always finding ways to tweak something in my game to allow me to take that next step in my development.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I’m fortunate to have multiple avenues to continue my training with help from my strength and conditioning coach at ONU working closely with me to help continue my development. I also work with Hybrid Performance in Paulding, Ohio when I visit home.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
As stated before, I truly love this game and I show that with everything I do. The way I play the game, prep for the game and the way I train are all examples of how important this game is to me. I bring energy, excitement and camaraderie to any team. I am a guy with high character and integrity. I am always looking to get better and will continuously work to better myself and those around me. I want to be on the field, and I want to be a leader.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I am an individual that will give you everything he has every day and play a high-level of football that will propel any organization in a positive direction. I’m a coachable and detail-oriented person that is willing to do whatever to get on the field. If you want a great locker room presence, with an unmatchable desire to win and be the best he can be, I’m your guy. I’m seeking all opportunities to play professional football and willing to speak to anyone regarding my future.
