Zeke Walker: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Zeke Walker
School: Southeastern Louisiana
Position: S/OLB
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 216

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I finished the season as top 5 on defense in total tackles. As well as a pick 6 on the year. Another goal I accomplished was getting my first career sack/sacks. I’ve had plenty of QB hurries throughout my college career so to record my first sack was accomplished goal.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say I am hardworking and determined. That I am a leader both on and off the field. I lead by example and I also am very dependable. I learn from my mistakes and move on quickly.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When watching film I like to focus on the small details personally. When it comes to certain techniques and stances that gives me the upper edge over my opponent I like to critique and make sure it’s where it needs to be as well as my eyes.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I feel like there are a lot of players who play this position that are good players but I feel that my size and length are what gives me the advantage.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I will train the best way I know possible which is getting stronger and faster as well as mentally prepared for what comes next and with this game.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My level of knowledge of the game. Knowing how I learn and how I adapt quickly to things I feel like is a major advantage because it allows me to grasp concepts and use them as well as knowing what I have to do without having to think. Especially being a defensive player we have to react and not think. Being able to adapt quickly is a big thing for me on field. Off the field I am a very reliable person. I know when to say no. I know how to take myself out of anything in which I may feel isn’t right or take myself out of things that I know I shouldn’t be around.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

That whoever takes that chance on me, you won’t regret it both on and off the field. As well as throughout my football career I’ve always been seen as an underdog and proved not only to myself that I’m able and capable of doing great things but to those who doubted me as well that I overcome the naysayers! I work hard and I don’t complain. I’m a team player and the job gets done. I learn quick and I pickup on things quickly.
