Tyler Castillo: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Tyler (Ty) Castillo
School: Colgate
Position: WR/DB/ATH
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 175

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

One goal I accomplished was becoming an All-American. I’ve pursued that since my freshman year so being able to finally achieve it after the success I’ve had at my position was very humbling.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say I’m a definition of what it means to be a football player. I believe they would say I am coachable, determined, and the type of player to always be around the ball.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

Generally, I start with recognizing the formation and understanding my assignment before the play starts. Then I’ll watch my technique at the snap of the ball and see if I’m doing it correctly. I feel that watching the little things and taking that knowledge onto the field afterwards to work on will help me become a more complete player.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

Being an athlete my whole life, I’ve been introduced to many positions including QB, WR, and DB. I feel my speciality is knowing what each position is based around so having that knowledge will help me separate from other players. Playing WR, I know what will make the DB uncomfortable so I already have an advantage before the play starts.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I have a trainer in North Carolina that works for Evolution Athletics. Being in my last semester at school, I’m unable to train with him personally but I get feedback and workouts sent to me based on my results.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I will bring a high football IQ to any organization who wants me. I will bring commitment and dedication to the teams objective and will do what I can to ensure the team and myself are successful.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I know I’m not the biggest or flashiest but I can assure you that I’m on of the most competitive athletes with a unique skill level that can come in and contribute to play making.
