Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

The goals that I set for this season was to get 700+ receiving yards, All-Conference award and All-American award. I did not achieve any of those goals.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say that I would do anything for the team to win, wether that is being on every special teams unit or blocking my ass off every single play, it’s the unselfish mentality. Stats are nice to have, but I’m the type of player that just wants to win and do whatever I can to help out the team in position to do that.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

When I’m studying film, my main focus is to identify the defensive scheme as a whole so I can get a feel for their tendencies based on coverages. Next I watch every single DB and how each one plays press coverage, off coverage, attacks blocks and how hard they pursue the ball. Doing that allows me to identify the type of player that DB is, are they more aggressive or patient in press? Are they a liability? Do they take pride in tackling? Does the Sam backer Re-route WR’s to the second level so I have to work a second level release when I’m in the slot? Leverages are everything, do the corners feel more comfortable playing inside/head up/outside leverage in press coverage? What leverage do the safeties play in off man? Do they play catch man technique? All of these elements are important to consider when identifying the type of players these guys are as well as coverage tendencies. Lastly, I always look at the opposing teams’ receivers and how they attack the defense so maybe I can get some ideas off of them on some moves they did that I can use as well, route releases, blocking angles, how they run their routes etc.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

The thing that separates me from other pro prospects is how diverse of a player I am. I first entered college at The University of Northern Iowa as an (ATH) and as a redshirt freshman I started at Nickel because I wanted to find a way to get on the field no matter what position it was at. Coach Farley told me that he wanted to try me at Nickel and the rest was history. I ended up getting 11 tackles and the 3 starts I had. I can play defense of offense and make an impact on the field. I have open field speed, I have great hands, I can block like a TE, I can play inside WR and outside WR, I can play every single special teams you out me on because I can block and tackle anyone, and I can play defense. I’ve proven I’m the most versatile player on the field, it doesn’t matter where you put me, I’ll make an impact.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

During the off-season I played in the FCS bowl in early December, I play in the College Gridiron Showcase January 5th-7th, after that I will be training for Pro Day at the University of Northern Iowa. My pro day date isn’t set at the moment but I will be participating in Mizzou’s pro day in March. I also graduate in May with my Masters in Applied Health/Sport Sciences.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Strengths and abilities that I will bring a team that will stand out on and off the field is my unselfishness, the will to win, my resilience against adversity, contagious positivity and joy to be in the position I’m in, how versatile of a player I am because I’m not just a WR, I’ve proven I can run, catch, tackle, play all special teams positions and block no matter where I am I can do it all. I’m also the guy who people always get a good laugh out of because of how goofy I am, that’s the biggest thing that stands out about me off the field. I always like to build as many bridges as I can because that just makes life more enjoyable and beneficial for you in the long run, you never know who you’ll need to call for assistance one day or you also want others to reach out to you as well, it’s a two way street.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

No matter what league reads this, you will get a player that doesn’t take no for an answer, I live off of proving people wrong. As a D2 player, I’m the definition of proving people wrong. I will do anything and everything to play professional football, no matter what position you put me at, I will make an impact on that field. No matter if I have to be on every single special teams to make the roster, I will dedicate my damn career to those special teams because that enables value for me and with that value, teams can’t deny that quality in a player. I’m a WR who’s went multiple games with 0 receptions and had an attitude like I scored 3 TD’s but when you watch that film, you see me blocking my ass off for my teammates because it’s not always about me, it’s about the teams’ success. When you have that mentality, my time to shine will naturally come because I EARNED it. I always do the most work while nobody is looking, when the lights are off, that’s the type of player teams need. I am driven to prove that a small town kid who had 1 offer out of high school, preparing for professional football from a D2 school can do it, it’s possible to achieve your dreams no matter where you come from. It’s all about your approach, your mindset, the work you out in and YOUR FAITH. Always have faith in yourself and you can achieve anything you out your mind to, and I’m about to prove that this spring.
