Trenton Bridges: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Trenton Bridges
School: Bethune-Cookman
Position: LB
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 235

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

Heading into my final season, I received the “Rashean Mathis Keystone Award” which is the highest award a defensive player can receive at BCU. I also was named team captain and was top 2 in tackles every year.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

They would say that I’m a field general, one of the smartest guys they have coached and that every time I’m on the field, I have a relentless effort to get the job done, whatever it needs to be. They would also say that I am very coachable and have never had any off the field issues.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I focus on the tendencies of my opponent and how I would react to them. I always put myself in the film, meaning I play the game in my head before I actually do it. I look at my opponent’s tendencies such as keying the O line, what type of backs I’m going up against, and the QBs favorite targets, route combinations, as well as strengths and weaknesses.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me from other guys is that my instincts and football IQ is far above average and I understand the game of football very well offensively and defensively. I was well taught beginning back in high school and have been able to apply and develop throughout my career.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I will be training rigorously with Speedline, who is my trainer, with emphasis on my side to side quickness, agility, and my overall speed. I stay ready, so I don’t have to get ready.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On and off the field, a team will be getting a leader, a playmaker, and a player that won’t be out-willed physically or mentally. Also, off the field, a team will be getting a person who is well involved in the community and has no problem serving. I take just as much pride in what I do off the field as much as I do on it.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch would be that the team that I go to will be getting a competitive, relentless player who is a leader and is capable of completing any task that I am asked to do. I’m Ready.
