Tre Watson: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Tre Watson
School: Maryland
Position: LB
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 235

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

This last year for me was about playing free and being comfortable somewhere which I was able to do at Maryland. I just wanted to further prove that I am a top tier linebacker with the ability to make plays which I did in all phases of the game.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

Coaches would say that I’m a guy who every day is going to be about business and get things done no matter what. They’ll say that I’m coachable and that I communicate well which allows me to get the most out of my game. Lastly, they’ll say there isn’t a more competitive guy anywhere and that I will always do whatever is needed to help my team win.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

With film study, I focus on being able to self correct my play to the point where I know when i am doing things right or not. It allows me to always be making small tweaks and adjustments to my game so that I am always getting better as a player.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

The difference is that I am a complete linebacker who has proven film at the highest level of college football against the best competition. You can find plays where I do everything that is required of a linebacker and then some when you look at my film and that’s what sets me apart. I don’t just fit into one role, I’m versatile and have many strengths as a player.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

My entire focus this offseason is on maximizing my athleticism so that I can test at my best ability. That is where my weakness lies so the gains I can make in this aspect will only translate to my actual game even more so.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

What I will bring to a franchise is dependability, accountability, a burning desire to win, and the ability to fit into any role that is needed for the team. I am open and willing to do whatever it takes and know how to use my abilities to help a team win games.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

There is nothing more that I can say or do to show who I am as a player. My film speaks for itself in terms of what I can do on the field and in meeting with teams thus far they understand the level of passion and devotion that I have to this game.
