Tevin Isom: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Tevin Isom
School: West Georgia
Position: WR
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 205

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I accomplished developing good hand and eye coordination skills, footwork skills, overall route running skills, and mental skills, all for becoming a better player on the field.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

They would label me as a do it all player! No matter what they asked me to do, whether it was playing front line on kickoff return or being a personal protector on punt team. I was willing to do it all just so our team would be in the best position to win!

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I focus on the guy that’s lining up across from me first and foremost! I want to see how he is on 1st-4th down! I look to see if he’s fundamentally sound, how he reacts in critical moments of the game and the main thing I focus on is how he plays in the 4th quarter, when he’s been going at it for 45 minutes and he has to strain his gut for the last 15 minutes of the game to come out on top. Next, I focus on the flow of the defense, to see how physical and disciplined they are. I use all of that data to give me an edge in my weekly matchups too!

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

Having the skills to breakdown an entire defense from a WR perspective. Sometimes when you see WRs get hit hard, it’s because they don’t recognize a defense playing “man” or “zone”. I feel like you have to know those things to be a great player!

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I will focus on getting my endurance up so I can perform at an optimum level come pro day!

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On-Field: Playing Special Teams! My entire college career I’ve been the guy on Special Teams and I’m willing to bring that same energy to an organization! Off-Field: I’m all about giving back, so I want to start a foundation where I give back to the less fortunate because growing up, I didn’t have much. I was raised in a single parent home and my mom worked 14 hours out of the day, so getting a home cooked meal after school wasn’t there for me, I had to survive off of Top Ramen noodles and I don’t want others going through that!

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

To all the teams out there, If you want a guy that’s willing to give his all and be a leader in your organization on and off the field, then I’m your guy. I’m just a football junkie that’s looking for an opportunity!
