Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
I accomplished completing four season of being a Division 1 collegiate athlete. One of the very first in my family to complete all four (4) seasons. I have set the bar for other family members now playing collegiate and little league. I did what not even the coaches believed I could do which was a “walk on” and through hard work, belief in myself, determination, and passion for the game, received an athletic scholarship.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
They would say that I am a hard worker on and off the field, respectful to leadership, and a good role model for young athletes. Also, when the going gets tough, I refuse to tuck my tail and run.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
In film I’ll focus on the smallest thing that are blind to others when looking at the bigger picture. I tend to focus on body language, initial steps, and myself finishing through plays.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I am physical and smart. I watch and study so much film that before a ply is even developed, I know exactly what play is going on. Also, my will to compete between those ”white lines”.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I train in Katy at Redline Athletics for now. My trainer and I put emphasis on training for more power and explosiveness. While also being fluid in DB drills as I make the transition to playing this position.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am coachable. I refuse to make the same mistakes repeatedly. As long as I am making new mistakes I’m making improvements as well. Plenty of coaches have said that they respect me a lot because I refuse to be complacent and not just in football. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
If given the opportunity to compete, that’s all I will ever ask for. A fair opportunity goes a long way. I’ve never been somebody’s first pick in anything. I’m usually overlooked, but in the end I’m always top dog and the “go to” guy. I am resilient and will be an asset to the team and the league.
