Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
As a team, our goal was to put ourselves in a position to win our second conference championship in three years and make the national playoffs. We were able to give our team that chance down the stretch of the season. My goals for myself were to give my punter and kicker the best chance possible to receive accolades for all conference and beyond, which both were able to do. I also wanted to be recognized on a national level. This was accomplished when FAF named me to their ‘3rd Team Pre-Season Defensive All-American’ team.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
Consistent, accountable, and available. It’s nice to know there is one small, but important part of the game that isn’t needed to be worried about.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
First, I look at their formations pre-snap to get a better idea if they will be trying to block, hold up, or set up a return. Next, I look at the players and determine who is responsible for me and where they may be coming from. Finally, I look at the returner. I determine if he has any tendencies for the direction he likes to return, if he is aggressive to catch the ball, or if he is more willing to let it hit the ground.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I always want to be coached and want to improve. I want to push and better everyone around me. I love what I do and am able to make an impact from my role on the field.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Continue to lift, run, snap, and exercise my mental game to stay sharp.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
There isn’t a “get them next play” with what I do. If I am not perfect, the entire game can be changed in a second. I embrace this duty and strive for perfection in anything I am doing on or off the field. What it takes to play football is also what it takes to succeed in life and that’s why it is the greatest sport created.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
It’s not often that you will find a long snapper that takes so much pride in what he does and is willing work and hold himself to a standard higher than his teammates around him. I have surprised people my entire career with my work ethic, love for what I do, and my drive to out compete those around me. I’ve always had a drive to prove everyone wrong who has doubted me. Give me a chance and I’ll show you how impactful I can be.
