Quan Stoudemire: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Quan Stoudemire
School: Jacksonville State
Position: ILB
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 235

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I became not only a better football player, but a better man as well. I learned how the tools of football will help me in the real world.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

I’m someone who leads by example. I’m not the type of player who is going to be vocal and yelling at everybody UNLESS I’m on the field making changes before the snap so that my team can be in position to make a play. Leading by example is something I value because when people see you working just as hard as them then they repeat you more.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

First I look at the formations and see what the other team top plays are that they like to run. Then I look to see how the lineman stances are each play. Some lineman change their feet position depending on the play type. Running backs do the same thing. One play the RB might be lined up right beside the QB so that lets me know that if it’s a run then it’s going to be outside. I also look at RBs eyes before the play because some of them will look to see where they are going.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

My ability to mix the old school linebacker mentality with the new school mentality. I still have that down hill, ready to destroy anything coming instinct like the old days but I’m also able to drop in coverage and make plays with my athleticism like the new school LBs. I’m trying to be on every play rather it’s a pass down the field or a run to the opposite side of the field. I’m sideline to sideline getting there with aggression.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I’m going to be training with Miles Jones and Octavius Bonham. These guys push me to be the very best I can be and I’m able to work with them One on One so all of the focus will be on me and helping me getting better each day.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

On the field, I have the ability to come and have an impact on a team by bringing leadership, hard work, and determination. I’m a very smart and instinctive linebacker who will come downhill and punish the ball carrier. But I’m also an athlete who can drop back in the passing game, pick off the ball, and has the speed to take it all the way. Off the field, I am a man who handles his responsibilities like a man should. I’m always looking for a way to help others and I’m a positive influence to the young ones looking up to me.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

In college all I had was ONE offer (Jacksonville State ) and I went there and left a mark on the program. Now all I need is ONE call from a NFL team that believes in me and I will go there and make an impact as a true inside linebacker. I’m not the fastest, I’m not the strongest, but I am a person who was born to play the Linebacker position better than anybody.
