PJ Johnson: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: PJ Johnson
School: Arizona
Position: DL
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 325

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

To force teams to have to double team me most of a game.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

They would say I’m a straight dog that they could depend to go out there and fight until I can’t fight any more.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

If I’m watching the opponent its offensive lineman tendencies and personal group tendencies.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I believe I’m the most versatile defensive lineman in the draft, I played the whole defensive line from stand up defensive end to nose guard and even dropped into coverage a bit, with my size I bring a natural anchor and in pass rush I have perfect balance of quickness and power.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I’ve focused more on conditioning and tempo type training sessions so I can build a body that can play in a game non stop with no sub.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I have been through adversity after adversity and it has made me so mentally strong that things do not faze me. I learned to get through things, so if we were down 3 with 2 minutes left it’s built in me to be calm and get the job done. In addition those adversities have made me appreciate life and opened my heart to helping others so they don’t go through things I went through alone.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

If you want a player that only thinks dominance, plays violent, a football junkie, who has been through adversities that could kill a person and has the fight in him to beat it every time and only get stronger, then I’m your guy. I fit every system and can play every position on the defensive line at a high level and I bring a maturity that most young players do not have, come get me I will help lead us to a Super Bowl.
