Nick Borsari: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Nick Borsari
School: Westfield State
Position: NG/DT
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 365

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

Going into the season, I set a goal of ending the year with a team record of .500 or above, which we were able to set with a 5-5 record which was the best record my team had achieved in my time at Westfield.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say that I am a strong leader, as I was a two year captain at Westfield State, and that I have a fantastic work ethic.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When studying film, I usually focus on my first step. As a defensive lineman, your get off is absolutely your most important tool and it all starts with your first step. If it’s too short or not in the right direction, you don’t have a chance at beating your opponent.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me from other players at my position is my physical stature. Many nose guard’s in today’s game are both versatile in run stopping and pass rushing, bust my physical size allows me to excel especially in the run game. I am capable of eating up double teams and allowing linebackers to make plays, while also making solo plays when the opportunity strikes. While my pass rushing technique is not the greatest, my run stuffing abilities are up there with the best.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

If I am blessed enough to play at the next level, I would continue to train this offseason by working on my weaknesses, such as speed and reaction time. I believe my physical strength can match those who play at the next level, but I would need to focus greatly on my speed and agility.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Some of my greatest strengths are my leadership skills and my physical strength. At my school, I was named a captain for both my junior and senior year which meant a lot to me as it showed both my teammates and coaches relied on me for support in critical situations both on and off the field. As for my physical play, I have a large build and decent strength, which I believe would allow me to be successful at the next level.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch to NFL/pro scouts would be that if you’re looking for a textbook run stuffer and double team eater, I am your man.
