Name: Rocky Boyer
College: Eureka
Position: Middle Linebacker
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 250
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Rocky: Tough, Hard hitting, and Instinctive.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Rocky: When my season ended, I was not expecting to get the opportunity to compete for an NFL Regional Combine. So when I got accepted, it was a great opportunity and I was very blessed for it. I worked with the best trainer in the central Illinois area on strength, speed, agility, and my overall performance. He helped me to become the best version of myself and got me ready to compete at the highest level.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Rocky: I would compare myself to former NFL linebacker Ray Nietzsche. He was a hard hitting, tough, and instinctive linebacker that played as hard as he could every time he stepped out onto the field.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Rocky: When I watch film, the first thing I look at is the offensive line and what their blocking scheme they use. Whether they pull their guards or if they are a zone running team. Next, I check the quarterback and the running back and see what their tendency’s are. Lastly, I find their playmakers and find their strengths and weaknesses and from there, try to find ways exploit the weaknesses.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Rocky: I never give up on a play. I will always play to the whistle.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Rocky: My work ethic on and off the field has carried me to this point and will continue to carry me for the rest of my life. I look up to players like Drew Brees and Larry Fitzgerald and how they carry themselves on and off the field.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Rocky: I may not be the best athlete on the field, but I will work as hard as I possibly can to be the best. I have had to fight and work my tail off to get everything I wanted in life. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to be the best version of myself and to help any team that will give me a chance to win a championship.
