Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Montay: Consistent, playmaker, route runner.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Montay: Once my senior season ended. I moved to Atlanta and began training at one of the top facilities in Atlanta (chip smith performance system). I then began to take things to another level. While training with high level trainers I took the time to focus on my explosiveness and route running techniques, So that I could become a more dominant athlete.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Montay: AJ Green, not because of his size, but because of his style of play and his ability to make big plays when needed. I’ve always looked up to him as role model. But mainly the way he carries himself on and off the field. In my eyes he is a natural born leader, vocal, and always giving his all. I will bring the same similarities to the next level.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Montay: When studying film, I look at the coverages a team is playing and what they are trying to disguise pre snap. Then, I began to look at each defensive back and style of play strengths and weakness. I also look at the linebackers flow in coverage. I use film study to prepare myself for anything the defense may show during a game, and also to get open and make plays.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Montay: My drive and my passion is what separates me from others. See I’m not always in the media guide or some #1 player, but effort is what I’m going to give, my effort is what’s going to get me notice. This game is bigger than me, I’m playing with a chip on my shoulder, and for God and my mom. I will always give my all and remain humble.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Montay: I will bring my intangibles to any team. I’m a hard worker, accountable, and discipline. I’ve fought through all adversity in my life, especially loosing my mom. So whatever comes at me, wanting to break me, mold me, or shape into something I’m not. I will never give up no matter what.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Montay: Throughout my career, I’ve always been underestimated or have someone telling me I can’t do something. That’s the reason I play with a chip on my shoulder. I’m going to give my all on any team I play for and I promise you that. I will never quit or back down from no one. There is no I in team and I’m a team player. I just want an opportunity.
