Position: Linebacker
Height: 6’1″

Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?

Matt: Technical, Physical, Passionate.

Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?

Matt: I’ll workout at Monmouth College focusing on agility, explosiveness, and strength. Hip flexibility and footwork will also be major points of emphasis going forward.

Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?

Matt: Ray Lewis. He played the game with passion and always found a way to make a play when his team needed it most. The way I read plays and attack downhill is something that I modeled after him.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?

Matt: First and foremost, tendencies are key. I look for what teams will run in certain downs and distance, as well as where they are on the field. I look at the offensive line stances and first steps to see if they give anything away. Watching film is my favorite part of preparation and being able to read plays before the offense runs them is what sets me apart from other linebackers.

Q: What separates you from other players at your position?

Matt: My football IQ is what sets me apart. It allows me to read plays and communicate to my teammates to let them know what to expect. If I can be one step ahead of the competition, it allows me to be able to use my technicality and hand positioning to beat the offense to the spot.

Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

Matt: I’m a high-character person and player that brings leadership on and off the field. I have fought through a lot of adversity in my life and no matter what happened, I have come through successful. I will never quit on my dreams on the football field or in the community.

Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Matt: Every day I wake up, I put in the work to be the best. Whether it is on the field, in the weight room, in the film room, or in the community, no one will out work me. There may be people that are stronger or faster than me, but no one will work harder than I do.
