Name: Matrick Belton
College: South Carolina
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 218
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Matrick: Relentless, Aggressive, Powerful.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Matrick: Every day of training I have one main goal I want to accomplish. I commit every day of training to my weaker areas of my game, and work on what may be one detail all day long. That way I will become a more complete receiver and offer value to all phases of the position.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Matrick: If I could compare myself to another NFL player it would definitely be Michael Irvin. The way Michael Irvin approaches the game with an attack mindset reminds me a lot of myself. He also was a big receiver who prided himself on playing big and making plays. And most importantly you could see his love and passion for the game. There is nothing that I would rather do for a living rather than play football, and I feel like that passion for the game makes a big difference. You can see it!
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Matrick: I separate myself from other Wide Receivers because I am not a prima donna. I love the contact in football. I take pride in blocking DB’s and I love playing a physical game because that’s where I have the biggest advantage over DB’s. I’m not scared to do the dirty work.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Matrick: My best quality as a player is definitely my work ethic. I put in sickening hours of work to perfect my craft, and I can’t wait until I get the opportunity to devote all of my time to becoming a better player. This carries from the field to the weight room, and hard work can be contagious.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Matrick: I am a big, mean, aggressive wide receiver, who happens to have great play making ability as well. I pride myself on dominating the DB’s from both the pass game and run game. I am the complete receiver.
