Name: Corin Brooks
College: University of Texas of the Permian Basin
Position: Guard
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 310
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Corin: Aggressive, composed, technical.
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Corin: In early January I was blessed with an opportunity to compete in the College Gridiron Showcase. Since then, I have been working hard to improve myself in every aspect. I have been eating healthy and training at ProSport Stack in Irvine, California. I have been improving speed, power, and agility, so that I can have an impressive pro day. I also train with an offensive line coach to improve my technique and get ready to play football.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Corin: La’el Collins. We have a similar build and athleticism. He played tackle in college and guard at the next level, that’s where I envision myself in the future. He is athletic and aggressive with great technique and I try to play the same way. Also, he does well at the second level and I pride myself at blocking second level.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Corin: I look for tendencies. You can tell often when teams are going to pass, run, blitz, and twist. I look at the individual defender’s moves and how he sets it up. I also look at how a defender torques his frame so I get a better understanding of how I will be able to block him. One thing about film is, you can never watch too much.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Corin: My athleticism and technique. I try to stay composed and use my fast feet and proper hand placement because that’s the only way to win at left tackle. Playing left tackle really helped me improve my overall game and one thing I will say is no matter where I am on the field, I do not like to be denied.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Corin: I feel I bring to the table a guy who is hungry and works hard. I am a positive person and have always done well making positive relationships with my teammates and coaches. On the field, I am reliable and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Off the field, that’s the same way I go about my life. Anyone who really knows me knows I have their back, and you can come to me for whatever help you need.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Corin: I’m a great team guy. I’m a hard worker and you won’t be disappointed with my style of play. I feel like I can play with anybody and I just want the chance to prove myself worthy.
