Name: Billy Eakins III
College: Ohio Dominican
Position: Defensive Back
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 190
Q: If you could describe your style of play in 3 words, what would they be?
Billy: Smart, Instinctive, Well-Rounded
Q: How are you going to train/prepare this offseason in preparation for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Billy: I am doing my personal combine training in Tampa, Florida until my pro days in March.
Q: If you could compare yourself to one current or former NFL player who would it be and why?
Billy: As far as CB play, I try to model myself after Darrelle Revis because of his patience and good eyes. However, if I were to compare myself to someone as a DB it would be Tyrann Mathieu because of his versatility and ability to play multiple positions.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on or look for?
Billy: When I study film I focus on receivers’ initial alignment, what routes are ran out of certain formations, indicators that the receiver is about to break, the Quarterback’s favorite targets and throws to make, and what’re some things I can do to mess with the receiver’s head.
Q: What separates you from other players at your position?
Billy: What separates me from other guys that play DB is my experience and eye discipline. I started at DB every year in college and that’s allowed me to gain experience. Now I know when to play aggressively and when to let things fall into place on their own. Also, my eye discipline allows me to stay on top of double move routes.
Q: What kind of abilities would you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
Billy: I will bring competitiveness, integrity, and character to a team, on top of good communication skills. I believe those are the main ingredients for a team to build chemistry on and off the field and play at the highest level.
Q: What is your final pitch/sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
Billy: Coming from a small school, I have developed that competitive chip on my shoulder. So whatever team willing to give me a chance will not be disappointed. I’m willing to do whatever my part is to help the greater good of the team!
