Marquise Baldwin: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Marquise Baldwin
School: Chowan
Position: LB
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 210

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

The goals I accomplished where leading my team to beat power house teams like Bowie State and Virginia State, teams we haven’t beaten in years, and I led the team in tackles.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

Always hungry, very coachable, hard working, and self motivated.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I watch and break down film, I watch how the running back likes to hit the hole, the o-line weaknesses, what’s the QB’s favorite target, does he stare down his receivers, and what’s their favorite route combinations, so I can stay ahead of the offense I’m going against.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

My athleticism. I’m not your average linebacker, but my athleticism and speed is what definitely separates me from the others.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I will train like no other. I will push my body past its limits to be in the best physical condition possible.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My strength on and off the field. I’m a versatile athlete, I played linebacker my whole career, but I can cover like I’m a nickel corner. I’m never afraid to be manned up against a slot receiver or a running back in space because I know covering is one of my great attributes. My speed and explosiveness is key to be able to fill the gap quickly or read out of a blitz if I see a pulling guard, if need be. Off the field, it’s my film study. I watch hours of film on the running backs, Quarterback, and receivers, and mainly for their favorite plays. I also do the extra work when nobody is looking, separating me from a lot of people.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch would be that I played linebacker, I’m a versatile down hill and a sideline to sideline linebacker. I tackle great in open space and I can also play nickel corner in man coverage. I’m undefeated and very explosive with blazing speed. I have a very high football IQ. If you give me a chance, I promise you won’t regret it.
