Malcolm Williams: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Malcolm Williams
School: Coastal Carolina
Position: WR
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 195

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

I did not accomplish what I wanted to my senior year, but I was happy to put up two back to back good seasons in a triple option offense! I think that putting up 800 yards my junior year and 725 yards my senior year shows I am a big play threat that can stretch the field rather it’s on the outside or in the slot!

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

That I am a hard worker who came ready to go day in and day out. That I am a good teammate! And that I don’t drop the ball!

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I watch the safeties because the safeties are going tell you the coverage! Then I work my way down to the corners so I can see how they are playing, what routes they struggle with and things like that.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I’m smart! My route running is probably my biggest attribute! I definitely can run any route in the route tree! Along with catching the ball I feel like I have very good hands! I can win on the outside or the inside! I’m shorter, but I play at a heavier weight during the season so it’s harder to bring me down at the point of contact! I’m just the total package they can’t do it like I do it!

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I trained at Pete Bommaritos down in Miami, Florida.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

First and foremost I am a good guy, real stand up guy I feel like people like me are going win in life regardless! On the field you are going get a savage who’s ready to work! Ready to play special teams, ready to make plays, ready to play his role on whatever team gives him an opportunity!

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

Just give me a fair opportunity and you won’t regret it! I got this far by grinding! Nothing was given to me. I got where I am today by getting every opportunity out of the dirt! So, if they think they can give a guy like me a fair opportunity and me not take advantage of it, then they are completely wrong! Opportunity is all I ask for!
