Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I just wanted to be consistent and repay the faith Coach Scheier had in me when he took me on earlier in the year. It’s been a long journey with many setbacks and it was good to have a coach that finally backed me in. You always have dreams to have huge punts and to be the best player in the country but this year I just set out to be consistent and repay the faith.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
Both coaches and teammates would say I’m an extremely honest person who will always tell the truth regardless of whether or not it is what you do or don’t want to hear. A lot of my teammates would consider to me funny and someone that they come to when they need it. Coaches would say I’m reliable and trustworthy.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
I don’t watch a whole lot of film when it comes to my punting technique. Unless I’m in a bad spot with my punting, I try and punt naturally and let my years of training allow me to give immediate feedback on the field of what I should or shouldn’t do. Prior to games I like to watch some film of other teams formations to see what they do in regards to their rush or hold up mentality.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I haven’t been able to spiral throughout college due to schemes but I’m surprisingly good for those that haven’t seen me and I’m very consistent.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
Just keep refining my punts. Plus some lifting and running!
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I’m a directional punter that gives extremely good consistency. On open field punts I am really good at getting good distance and pinning the opposition returner close to the sideline. In regards to Pooch punts, I have great touch and direction that allows me to pin opponents deep by letting my gunners have the time to get down the field and catch my punts. Off field, I am a respected person who loves to have a laugh and build relationships with people from all different walks of life.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
You know what you’re getting and I’ll come every day with a good attitude.
