Leo Lowin: 2024 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Leo Lowin
School: Army
Position: LB
Height: 6-0
Weight: 225

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I set the goal as a senior to become a captain and lead our team to bring the CIC back to Army.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

I think they would say that off the field I’m a very hard-working and dedicated individual who is consistently trying to improve. On the field, they would say I’m fast and play hard which allows me to be an effective playmaker against both the run and pass.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

I usually start by getting a feel for what the other team is trying to do on offense and who they like to get the ball to in certain situations. I then try to identify patterns and consistencies in which formations lead to which plays and see if I can narrow down their playbook. Lastly, I look for specific keys or tells in alignment and stances that may tip what kind of play is coming. All these things help me anticipate what to do and can speed up my reads in the game.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

Physically, I believe my time at safety separates me from other LB prospects as I tend to be more fluid and comfortable in coverage than most. Although that’s important, what sets me apart the most is from the neck up. I learn and understand concepts very quickly, I am very disciplined in my approach to all aspects of my life, and I’m extremely dedicated and willing to do whatever it takes to be successful.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I have a coach/trainer who I’ve worked out with since high school, and he’ll be coming up to West Point throughout the offseason to train me. There is limited ability to get off campus with the requirements and restrictions of West Point, but I’ll be doing everything I can to best prepare myself for what’s to come.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I’ll be a consistent and positive hard worker who dedicates himself to not only improving myself, but also those around me. With that I will be a positive leader for others, doing things the right way on and off the field. I will also maintain a level of focus and discipline on what’s truly important that will allow me to separate myself from others over the duration of my career.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Although I fully believe that I currently have the physical capability to be a good player in the NFL, it is my mentality, approach, and ability to process that leads me to believe that I can have an immediate impact and develop into a great player for any team that is willing to give me an opportunity. Considering my experience at West Point where I had to manage many facets of life, I have no doubt that if I am afforded the time and resources to strictly focus on football, I would be a great addition to any team and would make an impact in multiple phases of the game.
