Layton Rabb: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Layton Rabb
School: Midwestern State
Position: QB
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 215

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

As a 2 year starter I lead my team to an 18-3 record and was able to capture a conference championship and a playoff win. I was able to set several school records along the way as well. I created life long friendships with teammates and coaches and graduated with my degree in accounting. I tried to maximize my time and experience on and off the field while I was at Midwestern State University.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

They would say I’m a competitor, leader, has a high football IQ, coachable, and knows the importance of preparation.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When evaluating myself on film I evaluate my decisions, accuracy, and footwork/mechanics. When studying the opposing defenses I look to find tendencies in their games. I start with their favorite coverages and blitzes in different formations, down and distances, and field positions (backed up, open field, red zone). I then dive into those situations/coverages/blitzes and find pre snap tendencies, techniques, and keys to get a better read on what they are trying to do.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I am a great decision maker and have a high football IQ. I’m an accurate pocket passer who has enough mobility to extend the play out side of the pocket. I’m also a competitor who does whatever is necessary to win and to be the best player at my position.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I’m training at TEST Football Academy and then I’ll continue training at Midwestern State.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

As a professional athlete your impact off the field is sometimes over looked. I would love to give back to the community in any way possible as they are the fans and supporters of your team/league. On the field I would bring leadership, hard work, and quality quarterback play.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I’m looking for an opportunity to prove that I can play quarterback at the highest level of professional football. I believe I have the size, arm strength, and mental capabilities needed to play professional football.
