KJ Reid: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: KJ Reid
School: Arkansas Tech
Position: OLB
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 220

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

A personal goal for myself was to lead my conference in tackles and be named 1ST team all-conference. I had a few more goals that I was unable to accomplish, but that is okay. Overall, I enjoyed playing my last season with my teammates.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

I think my coaches would say that I am a very passionate and coachable player who plays with a lot of heart. They would say that I am a huge team player who likes to keep the entire team involved and locked in. Also, that I am a player who plays at a high level.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

Whenever I am watching my film, I look closely at my first steps, how I get off block, my tackling technique, and pass drops. I start with my first steps because if I have those correct from the beginning, I will be faster to making a play on the ball.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I think what separates me from other guys at my position is my feel for where the ball is and then acting on it. I feel very instinctive when I play football and I have a high motor that never stops. Also, my IQ and knowledge of the game sets me apart.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I am currently preparing weekly, with a trainer who is helping me get to where I need to be. Whenever I am not with my trainer, I will be working out with the strength and conditioning staff at my university.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

If given a chance to join an organization, I will bring a positive attitude and style of play that will represent the organization in the best way possible. I would like teams to see me play and ask themselves, “I like that guy. I wonder why we didn’t take a chance on him”. I will also act in a way that is well representative of an organization off the field.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I’ve never been a highly scouted guy or have had a lot hype around my name and this has molded me into the person I am today. I am a humble player who will come in and never take an opportunity for granted and will never give the front office or coaches a reason to question my effort.
