Kiaeem Mosley: 2023 Pro Prospect Interview

Name: Kiaeem Mosley
School: Grand View University
Position: DT
Height: 6-1
Weight: 295

Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?

I was first team all conference defense and was defensive player of the game for the 2nd round of playoffs. The only goal I set for myself every season is, can I be a disruptive force for my team and to go out there and make every opportunity count, and I would say I accomplished that this season.

Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?

My coaches and teammates would say that I bring great leadership, I work hard, and that I bring as much competitiveness as I can. I bring the intensity and know how to keep everyone together when adversity strikes. Most importantly they would say that I’m a good teammate and I look out for everyone, I try to create an atmosphere where we all feel like family.

Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?

One of the first things I look for when watching film of myself is my get off. Having a good get off is the foundation to a defensive tackle success on a play. I also check for the little things I do wrong and try to correct them the next day at practice. Like hand placement, my alignment, am I too high out of my stance etc. When watching my opponents I try to study offensive linemen tendencies. Do they have low hands or high hands when striking, do their stance change depending on if it’s run or pass, I look at anything that will give me an edge.

Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?

I would say my speed, explosiveness and my lateral quickness at 295 pounds sets me apart from other prospects at my position. It’s one thing to be big and strong like most defensive tackles are, but I have learned you make life very hard on offensive linemen where you also add speed to the equation and can do more than just bull rush. I also feel like I have a stronger football IQ for my position that will also set me apart from other prospects.

Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?

I really have been focusing on perfecting my pass rushing and block destruction techniques, as well as my explosiveness and speed. When I get the opportunity I want to show teams that I can be a dominant run stopper as well as having the ability to consistently apply pressure in the pass game. I am also working with a lot of coaches in my area on studying offenses, getting a stronger understanding on what NFL offenses are looking to do out of what formations.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

One of the biggest strengths I will bring to a team is my obsession with the game of football and that I want to win. I strive to be great, but it’s a team game and I am nothing without the men who stand beside me. So whatever the team needs, whether its leadership, positive energy, or someone to hold others accountable, that’s what I will do, as well as do my job and be a dominant force. As for off the field I will be a great teammate. Football is more than just physical, it’s mental too. And I know sometimes players go through hardships that nobody sees or talks about. So not only will I look out for my teammates on the field, but off the field as well, and i’ll help them anyway I can when they need it. Establishing a brotherhood on a team is one of the most important keys to success.

Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?

Any team that gives me an opportunity will be getting more than just a football player. You will be getting someone who is indebted to the game of football for all the great things it has done in my life and I will represent the name on my back and the organization I play for with respect. No matter the score, how much time is left, or who you put in front of me, I’m going to go out there and dominate.
