Julio Lozano: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Julio Lozano
School: Liberty
Position: OL
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 305

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

Some of the goals that I had set for myself were to become a better leader as a senior, whether that was being vocal or setting an example by doing all the little things right. I also worked hard to become the best player I could be in order to help my team be successful. Also I was a Phil Steele independent 1st team all conference selection.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say that I am a person who buys into the goals that a team is trying to achieve. I buy into what the coaches are saying, trainers, weight room staff, equipment and anybody who has the best interest for the program and myself. I take in what I learn in the film room and apply it to practice everyday. They would say that I’m a person who does the right thing regardless of who is looking.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I focus a lot on what steps I can take better and my hand placement. I try to look at the tendencies and pre snap indicators that defensive lineman have.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I believe what separates me from others is my ability to play at tackle against faster and twitchier defensive ends in the pass pro, but also move inside and be physical in the run game.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I plan on training to push myself to be in the best shape I can. I’m always looking to improve on everything I do. I will be training at all five positions on the offensive line to give myself an opportunity to play any position on the line.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My strengths on and off the field is my desire to compete at everything I do. I want to be the best person I can be that exemplifies a follower of Christ that people can see positivity and be inspired. I also want to compete on the football field and be the best player out there to help my team.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

You’ll be getting a player who is eager to learn from some of the greatest minds in the game, and also a native born Salvadorian football player, which isn’t very common. That should spark some interest in fans.
