Jordan Collier: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Jordan Collier
School: Buffalo
Position: SS/OLB
Height: 5’11″
Weight: 212

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

Going to the MAC Championship and going to a bowl game is something we all wanted to accomplish this year and even though we did not win, just to go and compete was fun. Also having a stat in every defensive category is another thing I wanted to accomplish and I did.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say that I am a hard worker, a leader, someone who is coachable and holds teammates accountable. I’m a fast, physical player who doesn’t mind doing the dirty work. A player you can trust and depend on.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film I usually focus on basic fundamentals first, as far as stance and footwork, then I focus on positioning and how I could have reacted and put myself in position to make plays faster. And then I study our opponent’s schemes and put myself into games and pre-play the game and kind of anticipate what they are going to run so when game time comes around it’s like I’ve already played the team.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me is that I am versatile. I can play more than one position, I play ALL special teams, a lot of guys don’t do that. I am a leader, I am ambitious, a hard worker, I put others before me, I show up when it’s crunch time. Everyone at the collegiate level is fast and athletic so what really separates me is the fact I am a smart player, I learn from my mistakes and then the next week I make my weakness my strengths.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

As far as training goes, I train at DASH Performance and we are really focused on becoming faster, more agile, and really just being a better football player when it comes to movement, speed, and agility. Most teams want to see how I move since I’ve been playing LB for so long, so they want to see if I can move my hips and do I have good footwork.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

My personality, the way I carry myself. I know that I can bring energy and poise to a team and push guys to go above and beyond. I am a team player, who encourages and challenges my teammates. I am going to always compete. Off the field I am marketable, I am very involved in my community, I am always trying to give back in anyway possible and I do not put myself into situations that could lead me into trouble.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch is that, if you decide to draft me or bring me in as a free agent you will not regret it, reason being is that I’m going to compete, and not be complacent. I’m a natural born leader, and I am a player who is willing to learn whatever there is to learn in order to make the team and organization better. I am passionate about the game and I will give the game everything that I got in order to be the best I can be. I know that my versatility, my leadership, and my willingness to learn and be coachable is what sets me apart from everyone else. And I know that I will be a great asset to a team/organization.
