Name: Jonte Pooler
School: Charleston
Position: CB/FS
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 185

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

For my senior season, a couple of goals I set out to accomplish started with being named All-Conference. As well, I wanted to be named an All-American or nationally ranked for passes defended, which I was able to accomplish. I fell short of being an All-American, but for me to set that goal and strive towards it gave me an edge every game.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

I believe my coaches would describe me as a lead by example type of player. I watch a lot of film on every team I face and take notes on everything a receiver does pre and post snap. As well as recognizing certain formations in key down situations and where the quarterback likes putting the ball. By doing this, I was able to get a lot of my teammates to join me and get better.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

My favorite thing to focus on when watching film is what tendencies the receivers have on the team we are facing. I like to get to know their releases and their favorite routes. At the same time, I have to study up on the quarterback too. I watch film for certain checks to quick game and connect that within the down and distance and where the game is at during that time.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I believe the mental makeup of my game is what separates me from others at my position. Everyone at the next level is athletic and can run. I always like to be a couple steps ahead of the game to compliment my athletic abilities which gives me the upmost confidence to do my job on the field. It’s so important to be mentally connected to the game because that is becoming the deciding factor of games these days, both professionally and collegiately.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

In the offseason, I will be training at home here in Ohio. I have a wonderful speed trainer and multiple performance centers to workout and craft my game and body for the next level. I will be preparing my body for the Pro Days upcoming at the end of February and March.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I believe I bring passion and connectivity to a locker room. I care about all of my teammates and know how important a connected locker room can be to our success. As well, I believe my abilities will push my teammates to be the best they can be. I believe in my work ethic and know how contagious it can become to get my team to work as hard as we possibly can. I understand I will have to earn that respect from my teammates, but I’m confident in my abilities on and off the field to earn it.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch to NFL or other Pro league scouts is the type of player they are getting in me. I can play most of all defensive back positions, special teams, and even offense. As well as the mental aspect of my game, I believe I can make any team better, whether I’m a practice squad player or a starter. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to help my team on and off the field. Lastly, I believe that my abilities are a lot different than others at my position and I take pride in my preparation for practice and games.
