Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
I entered my senior season as a 3x all conference player that has never missed competing in a game or practice. I continued my career, competing in 41/41 collegiate games including my most recent game, the D1 FCS Scout Bowl. Over the years, I recorded stats comprised of 266 tackles, 61 tackles for loss, and 24 QB sacks. I also received first team all ecfc this year again, and received defensive MVP in my D1 Scout Bowl game. I consider these accomplished goals because it shows improvement, consistency, and diligence in my work. Moreover, I continue to improve my game play as time passes due to hard work, experience, and competing at higher levels.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
I feel my coaches would describe me as a hardworking player that constantly improves and has potential to exceed expectations. My coaches would also vouch that I am a team player that would do anything to help improve what we can do as a unit. I strongly believe it is important to exceed expectations while doing what is best for the team.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
The first thing I do when watching on opponents is draw up multiple plays on their offense and special teams. I study these plays, gaining further knowledge on their tendencies, strategy, and comfort. I then begin to branch off into other film categories, studying offensive players movements and how they perform. I also pay close attention to what the offense does on 3rd and 4th down situations. I believe this improves my game because having a high football IQ and understanding my opponent can help my teammates and myself be more efficient on the field. Knowing what an offense can do and how they do it can help my defense compete comfortably throughout game situations.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
I believe my hard work both on and off the field helps me be a great football player. I think I have a variety of talents that separates me from others because of my edge speed, athletic ability, technique, and strength. Furthermore, what separates me entirely, is I have the ability and have had success when paying other defensive line positions, especially during unexpected times. Sometimes I am asked to move to other defensive positions, even at linebacker, that will help the team in those areas. This shows I have the strength to play interior and have the athletic ability to move around anywhere else on the field.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
I will be focused on a designed training program that specializes in strength, speed, explosion, and conditioning. I am confident that all of these training elements will make a high enthused and efficient defensive player, being able to compete with anyone. I have strategies that help continue to improve my explosiveness; which will ensure that I am the fastest player off the football and can shoot my hand quicker and stronger into an offensive player.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My main focus is to go above and beyond what is expected of me and to be a positive asset to everyone around me. Having great character shows I am willing to improve myself, my peers, and the community.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I am confident that I would bring a variety of talents to an NFL or other pro organization because I’ve shown great improvements throughout the years and also shown I can compete at any level of game play and am willing to do so. It is important to me that I continue to show organizations and the rest of the world that they have not seen someone who works as hard as I do or someone that can make plays anywhere on the field.
