Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?
Heading into my final collegiate season I set three goals. My first goal was to become a team captain. My second was to be the leader of the Receiver core, and my last goal was to communicate my knowledge of the game with players on the team. I can proudly say I’ve accomplished all three.
Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?
I believe my coaches would say I’m the type of player that doesn’t lead by vocalizing it, I’ll show you I’m a leader between the whistle. They would say I play with a lot of GRIT and will do anything to get the job done.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
When I watch film, I look at safety to cornerback communication. I watch hand signals to see if they give the coverage call away. I watch tendencies, along with stance. I watch the receivers routes to see what they had success with and what they failed at.
Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?
The separation between other players in my position and I, is my character and leadership. Everything I’ve been through, I’ve taken into account and I have let that develop me into what I believe to be a strong leader.
Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?
Sacrifice Training in Plfugerville, TX is my current personal trainer. The owner’s name is Bryson Tucker. He’s trained me when I was in high school to the point where I’m at now. He’s played at UMHB as well as competed in the CFL. He’s training athletes competing in the CFL, NFL and Olympic track. Given his credibility, I will continue to train with him and prepare for future opportunities.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
My strengths on and off the field are leadership, selflessness, and my competitiveness. I am a strong believer that competition breeds success. I want to be the best me along with helping others be the best they can be. Whether that be on the field, being a decoy to get someone else open, or in the film room, helping them break down coverages they might not understand.
Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?
I bring everything a receiver needs to bring to the table. Hands, routes, blocking. Anyone can catch a ball. Run a route. Throw a block. Not everyone wants to be a leader. Not everyone is willing to play the back up role or the decoy roll. That’s the extra I bring to the table. I know how to be a leader either by vocalizing it or showing it. I also bring the knowledge and understanding of the game and know when it’s your time, it’s your time. No matter the roll, you make the decision to rock with it and be the best you can be. I play because I love the game and I have seen the fruit of discipline, friendships, and heart. I only wish to continue the dream and to keep learning.
