Jaylen Lowe: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: Jaylen Lowe
School: Langston
Position: QB/ATH
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 200

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

My goal every offseason is to get better at everything, but I really tried to improve my footwork and throwing motion, and to get stronger and faster. I also studied film to learn more about coverages and schemes.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

I think they would say I am an extremely hard worker and lead the right way. I think they would also say I am a play maker and tend to make things happen.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

I focus on everything really, but mainly my throwing mechanics and reading the coverages.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

I am a dual threat quarterback, so when nothing is open or the o-line breaks down, I can scramble around and make plays with my arm or with my legs, but at the same time I’m smart and will throw the ball away which most dual threat QB’s have a hard time doing. I just can make plays in multiple ways.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I am already training, I have a speed coach to help me with the 40 time and my running technique and a QB coach to help me with throwing and footwork. I’m also lifting weights and throwing a lot to former teammates and guys from other schools. I am also working on route running and back peddling because I am pretty versatile and could possibly play WR or cornerback at the next level.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I lead by example and try to out work everybody because not only do I want to be the best, I want to win. I don’t care what it is, I will do whatever it takes to win. l think my teammates see that and it pushes them to work harder too. Off the field, I just try to be the best person I can be. I help people who are in need and just try to be positive and lead by example off the field as well.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

My final pitch is that I just want to win and I will do whatever it takes to help the team win, I just need a chance. Every time I’ve gotten a chance to help a team or to go in and make a play, I’ve done it. I’m very versatile, I’ve thrown TD’s, caught TD’s, rushed for TD’s, had a punt return for a TD, I’ve punted, I’ve kicked extra points, and I know I can play corner as well.
