Name: Jake Witt
School: Northern Michigan University
Position: OT
Height: 6-7
Weight: 290
Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
I set a goal to help our team achieve more than we did last year. While we had the same record, our offensive unit averaged substantially more yards than we did last season. I set a personal goal to be selected All-Conference in my first year at my new position, which I did.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
My coaches and teammates would say that I bring a positive energy with me and I bring a tough work ethic to each practice, lift, or game, trying to improve in any way that I can.
Q: When you are studying film, what are the things you focus on to improve your game?
When I watch film, I focus on keeping my pad leverage down as well as focusing on and dialing in my footwork and anchor in the pass game. I evaluate how I can play each different kind of rush differently.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I separate myself from other offensive tackles with my athleticism. I started my college career as a basketball player before switching to football. I was a receiver in high school, played tight end for 2 years at the college level, then switched to offensive tackle. I carry all of my athleticism and footwork with me. My measurables pop off the charts when comparing them to other prospects at my position.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
I plan on training at AdvantEdge Sports Training in Marquette, Michigan for the bulk of my spring as well as spending time at Triple F Elite Sports Training in Knoxville, TN.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I am going to bring extreme athleticism and raw talent to mold at the next level. Having only played one season at my position, I can be molded and formed. I have a high ceiling after achieving what I have at this position in just one season. I have a high motor and athletic ability that will allow me to adapt to anything thrown at me.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL and any other pro leagues?
I will come to work each day focused and disciplined. I will jump on every opportunity I have to get better and to sharpen my craft. I am going to bring off-the-chart athleticism with me that will adapt to the speed of play at the professional level with ease. I am a raw talent that can only improve from here. I have a frame that carries my current weight extremely well and can carry and handle much more weight while maintaining my athleticism.
