Q: What goals did you set and/or accomplish in your final collegiate season?
To be the best teammate I could be, and do my job to help my team win every week. I wanted to have the all time record for receptions in a season for my school, which I achieved. Also, I wanted to be one of the top receivers in the country, and I was successful in this goal.
Q: What would your coaches and teammates say about the type of player you are?
I’m a team player with a great work ethic that gives 100% every situation given.
Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?
I study my opponent’s footwork and endurance. During the week I work on drills to improve both of these skills.
Q: What separates you from the other pro prospects at your position?
I believe what separates me from the rest is my endurance. Football is a game where a player can be given many obstacles to overcome. Throughout my career I’ve overcome many tough obstacles, and there isn’t anything that I can’t achieve. I can endure any situation that I am given, and I will outlast my competition in training and on the field.
Q: What is your offseason plan to train and prepare for professional opportunities?
CrossFit has been a big reason for my success in my football career. Also, barefoot training has increased my athletic ability and balance. I plan to run a couple half marathons barefoot and work up to finish a full marathon. This different type of training has given me great endurance mentally and physically and also increased my speed over the years. I am going to increase my flexibility also by Yoga training.
Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?
I believe I am a skilled route runner that manipulates their opponent, by running my routes at precise angle to get open. Being able to focus on my assignment is key to success on the field. I always take pride in receiving my assignment and executing exactly the way it’s given. Many teams need players that can make plays on 3rd and 4th down to keep the drive alive. My nickname I was given by my teammates for Shepherd was 3rd and Brew, because I was always known for making plays on 3rd down.
Q: What is your final pitch to the NFL or any other pro leagues?
My work ethic is my foundation and I will accomplish my goals being who I am.
