David Hamm: 2019 Draft Prospect Interview

Name: David Hamm
School: McNeese State
Position: RB/ All Special Teams
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 222

Q: What goals did you accomplish heading into your final collegiate season?

My goals going into my final season were to first win a conference championship, rush for 1500 yards, and become a 1st All-Conference once more.

Q: What would your coaches say about the type of player you are?

My coaches would say I’m a hard worker, a team player, and someone that you can rely on especially when coming to practice with energy and giving 100% every day. They would also say I’m someone that loves the game and I’ll do anything to help the team as well.

Q: When you are studying film, what do you focus on to improve your game?

When I study film I focus on the corrections that need to be made so that I can improve in practice. I want everything to be fluid when it’s game day. I like to focus on my block protection skills and study the defenses that we’re going up against to see whats their tendencies and weaknesses are.

Q: What separates you from the other players at your position?

What separates me from other running backs is that I am not only strong and powerful but also explosive when finding a hole in the defense. I’m very skilled with my hands and block protection. I can catch the football from the backfield and from wideout. Another thing that elevates my game is that I play all special teams which makes my skill level very diverse.

Q: How will you train and prepare this offseason for the draft or other pro opportunities?

I’m currently training in New Orleans with Sonic Boom. It’s one of the best places in the country and best of the best trainers as well.

Q: What kind of strengths and abilities will you bring to a team that will stand out both on and off the field?

I feel as though my strengths off the field are just as important as my abilities on the field. I would describe myself as hard-working, coachable, a fast learner, loyal and dedicated. I have all the drive in the world when it comes to getting better and perfecting my craft. These qualities will stand out off the field as well because of my genuine spirit and kind heart. I love giving to those in need and helping people in any way that I can. Good karma is something I live by.

Q: What is your final pitch or sell to NFL and other pro league scouts?

I love this game more than life and if I am given the opportunity to join your organization then you will be guaranteed to have not only a team player, but also someone that is going to be a definite game changer. I’ve worked so hard to get where I am today and it would be an honor to be part of your team.
